How Beauticians Can Prepare their Clients for their Lash Extension Treatments

Receiving a lash extension treatment for the first time can be daunting for a client. There are a number of important reminders you need to make them aware of before their appointments. As the lash extension treatment lasts for between four and six weeks, and is aligned to the natural eyelash growth cycle, you may find it necessary to remind existing clients when they return for follow-up.

This is best achieved by having a printed guide that you can simply give to clients booking an appointment. If you have a website, and they have booked online, you can arrange for your site to send out the list of dos and don’ts with each eyelash extension appointment booked over the internet, while walk-in clients can receive a hard copy of the instructions.

Clients need to schedule sufficient time on the day of the appointment to come in without rushing as the procedure is lengthy. Tell them to treat it as a spa morning or afternoon where they are prepared to relax and allow for the time needed to do a great job.

Here is the list of items you need to remind clients of before each eyelash extension appointment.

Strictly No Makeup

Although you are only working on the eye area, clients should be told not to wear any makeup and to ensure that the eyes are clear of even lotions. If a client thinks partial makeup is fine, they may use a heavy base that comes up to under the eyes. Ideally, you want a clean working surface. There should be no trace of eyeshadow, eyeliner, or mascara. The lashes must be worked on in their untouched, natural state so they should not be curled before the eyelash extension appointment.

Not all clients will be rigorous in removing makeup residue. You should check that the area is completely clean, and if necessary, remove any makeup that the client has left behind. Clean the area around the eyes to remove any skin treatments that may have been used.

Contact Lenses

Contact lenses have to be removed for the treatment to take place. Clients should be reminded ahead of their appointments to bring the case to store their contact lenses in during the eyelash extension process. Failing to do so could cause damage to the eyes.

Stimulants

Imbibing any stimulants several hours before the appointment must be avoided. Beverages such as coffee, tea, and certain cold drinks can result in the eyelids moving during the lash extension treatment and messing up the result, which requires stillness on the part of the client. The person may become restless from stimulants and be unable to sit for the length of the appointment.

Clients should also avoid too many drinks, regardless of what it is, even water. This may have them needing to relieve themselves frequently and disrupt the process. It goes without saying that the same rules apply to the beautician who needs a steady hand-eye coordination to provide a professional treatment and a strong bladder.

Self-Training

Ensure that your skills are honed with an Online Lash Training course. It ensures that you are effectively skilled and confident. An accreditation helps you set up a professional salon and get insurance.

Trained beauticians who prepare the client for the treatment are more likely to have everything go smoothly.
